Review: Matt Skiba & The Sekrets - "Babylon"

Alkaline Trio front man, Matt Skiba's side project, The Sekrets has a sound that is not a far departure from the material that A.T. have done on their last few albums.

I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing.

My prevailing thought is because of the similarity, 'Babylon' doesn't distinguish itself enough as a side project and therein lies the problem for most vocalists, familiarity with the band we already identify them.

This is the corner that Matt Skiba has painted himself into with this album.

Alkaline Trio fans will eat 'Babylon' up with a spoon. Any fans who may have wanted to see if any horizons were expanded may feel this project came up short of that expectation but they will not be disappointed with the material itself.

A very solid album regardless of the moniker on the cover. - Mac
